For those who are staying at the Scout Centre and never visited Rotterdam a visit to the Euromast is a must. This tower is 185 meters high and was especially build for a large exposition in 1960. At that time the Euromast was only 100 meters high. In 1970, the Euromast was extended with a 85 metre high “Space tower” including rotating elevator. This elevator gives you a magnificent view of the whole city but also far beyond.
You can watch about 30 km away under normal weather conditions. In fact, on a clear day you can see the planes landing on Schiphol Airport and even the towers of Antwerp (nearly 100 kilometres).
Fortunately, you don't have to walk the stairs, to be able to see that far. A lift is available to take you in 30 seconds to the platform, which is about 4 feet per second!
The Euromast is located about 9 km from the Scout Centre and easy to reach by public transport.
Dare devils can even do abseiling from the Euromast, look for this insane attraction on http://www.abseilen.nl or call +31-10-2411788.
