Campsite Sports News Qualifier Clonmell Cup East Finglas Ventures: 5 East Finglas Scouts: 4
After a tense end of the end of this thrilling match there was a winner of a place to play East Finglas Leaders, who are the current holders of the most coveted price in annual camp sports The Clonmell Cup. A late goal from the scouts was not enough to ensure a comeback which seen the ventures pip the scouts in the end. After an early goal in the first half by the scouts the ventures seem to get the it of luck and a smashing goal by Ray evened the score. It was then 2-1 due to a clashing run by Wacker down the wing and a driving shot left the goal keeper stranded. From a corner the scouts pulled it level with a low shot from Dooley. It then shifted by the way of the scoutswith an over the top ball allowed Jack to pivot and drive a volley past Ringer. Just before half time with a bit of scramble on the left it was “Blisters” Paddy Scanton to take a sweet touch and shot the ball home for the ventures, with 3-3 on the score sheet half tome was looming and called. Second half begun at slow pace with a few subs and injuries forcing changes. Mich Feeney was back on after going over on his ankle. The scouts had the duo of Ciara and Hayley in the mix to do some solid football skills. The game was slow uintil the last 5 mins where the game heated up. A goal from from Ray made it 4-3. A controversial moment when the scouts had a charic with a header but it hit the crossbar and did not go over the line. The scouts were not out of it until Wacker steped up on the left with a glorious left foot shot to put the ventures 5-3 up. It was not plain soiling as a corner lofted in by Adam and a powerfull header from Lorcan meant a tense last 2 minutes the game ended much to the delight of the ventures. And a very upset scout team Lorcan said: “I don’t mind that we lost, I scored 3 goals” Adam Johnson was ready to throw down with a match official but left the field to lick his wounds. With the final teams decide we all look forward to an epic encounter on Tuesday night Alan O’Reilly said “that the best present he could get for his birthday would be a win over the ventures. The leaders are in a confident mood even with the aqquiral of a new team strip Paddy Scanlom of the ventures is looking for a good hand faight but is optimistic that the ventures will shine through to claim the Clonmell Cup” With the vangers on a high from the win, the leaders in a rich vein of form. It looks to be a good game and the sweet tea that is drank from the Clonniel will he an earned cup of tea but a defeat will be a hard pill to swallow
